Gucci Sneakers Cost More Than My Months Pay

Can't afford the Gucci Sneakers but they're pretty much the nicest pair of tennis shoes I've ever seen. Shock they're £300+ ................................

A few picks from some of the subpar end of season sales happening now. Most of the items on sale are lacking in comparison to last year and the price is still fucking high.... especially if you are a student living in London.

Thursday 21 August 2014

I've been back from Scarborough for about two weeks and although I don't really miss the isolation of knowing around 7 people, I do miss my regular bike rides along the sea at 7am in the morning listening to an eclectic selection of music, ranging from jazz, lo-fi, rap, 80s pop, techno and obscure electronica. Anyway, I've made a playlist of some of my most memorable songs. Have a listen and enjoy...

Neglecting this is what I do best, I would say I've been busy but I've mostly been lazy and unproductive for the past few weeks, and with my move to London coming closer and closer I've been preoccupied with looking at furniture and where to finally go when I get there.

Anyway after working in Scarborough for 6 weeks I managed to save up a bit of money for my move, but I've also managed to blow nearly half of it on clothes, wallets, drinks and magazines, whoops... lol.

Scarborough

I'm currently living in Scarborough, working for my uncle to earn some money for my move to London in September. I expected it to be quite a boring few weeks, but I'm really enjoying it, especially early morning bike rides along the beach listening to Beach House & Girls.

XXX

Jamie XX has released another great track today entitled 'All Under One Roof Raving' and, as quoted by Jamie, is a homage to his hometown, London. Along with his other recent songs, Girl and Sleep Sound, which were released earlier this year, I have a feeling Jamie's new album which is scheduled for release this year is going to be something extremely special.

Summer 2014

A few pieces of clothing that wouldn't go amiss for summer. General quite a plain and clean selection although the Watanabe print is fucking sick. These are all definitely out of my minuscule price range but it's still nice to pretend I can afford some of them. I'm in dire need of new trainers as well and the ETQ's keep cropping up so I may have to invest in a pair soon...

Nottingham Trent Grad Show

I went to the Nottingham Trent end of year grad show the other night to check out my friends final piece (a really cool video installation of inks, oils and paints magnified, making a super abstract video). There was absolutely loads of work on display some really good stuff and some that wasn't particularly to my taste, many of the students did a lot of minimal pieces which I liked and others just went for some really odd concepts. There was also a lot of free beer and wine which is always an added bonus. I took a few photos of some of my favourite pieces and drank some beer, so overall it was a pretty good night, although I didn't actually get any of the artists names...

FREEDARICH & LOSE YOUR HEAD

I've just finished watch LOSE YOUR HEAD, a psychological thriller based in Berlin about a young Spanish man who visits the eclectic city after a recent breakup. The film is one of the most confusing and well written I have seen in a while and at times quite tense, starting off quite slowly but quickly grabbing your attention and confusing the fuck out of you. Accompanied by an amazingly Berlin soundtrack by Freedarich and Touchy Mob, the minimal techno sounds really help to build up the film.
 It's definitely worth checking out.

My 10 Favourite Books

It's 1am, I'm really bored and should really be revising feminism within the media and distribution between industries, but I can't be bothered so instead I've decided to list my top ten books. It's not really in an order of favourites, although Less Than Zero is definitely my all time favourite, but just an arrangement of books I think everyone should have a look at. I'm pretty bad at making lists and ordering things anyway.

1) Less Than Zero, Bret Easton Ellis

2) The Catcher in the Rye, J.D Salinger

3) Haunted, Chuck Palahniuk

4) Naive Super, Erlend Lee

5) Norwegian Wood, Haruki Murakami

6) Ham on Rye, Charles Bukowski

7) Goodbye Tsugumi, Banana Yoshimoto

8) Vernon God Little, DBC Pierre

9) When I was Five I Killed Myself, Howard Buten

10) Fight Club, Chuck Palahniuk

Oliver Eglin - Berghain/Panorama

A few images from Oliver Eglin's project focusing on one of Berlin's, if not Europe's, most famous night club, the Berghain. His images focus on clubbers exiting the nightclub during the early hours of Sunday. Berghain is notable for its odd opening times, kicking off on a Friday and staying open all the way until Monday morning. It's also infamous for its stringent door policy with many people getting rejected after an hour long queue, one of the many reasons why I've never bothered and normally opt for Tresor when I'm in Berlin, however I'm desperate to try it out after a friend of mine went recently.

Berlin is definitely one of my favourite cities and these photos are a really interesting aspect of Berlin's extremely interesting culture. You can check out more of Oliver Eglin's photos on his website - here

Phantom Vibrate EP

Jacques Greenes new EP, Phantom Vibrate, has not disappointed. Already being one of my favourite producers/DJ's ever since laying my ears on Another Girl way back in 2012 I have always kept myself up to date with his growing number of tracks. No excuse is definitely going to be a new favourite of mine and the vocals are just amazing, hopefully it will get some airtime and be played around Nottingham in the summer, but I'm very doubtful. Feel What, although not as good as No Excuse, is still really chilled and I can imagine it being played at around 4am in a club when everyones starting to come down, debating whether to drop another bomb or go home haha.

ALSO, I've only just discovered one of Greene's first songs and its fucking insane. I have no idea how I've never heard it before, but it's instantly became a new favourite of mine and been on constant repeat.

Currently awaiting to sit my final exam and after long, boring days of pretending to revise I've decided to restart my blog... again. I'm probably going to leave out the constant photo posts and try and make things a bit more interesting, probably by posting music, artists and photographers I'm currently liking, but I have no idea and will probably neglect this in about 3 weeks.
Anyway, enjoy a few photos from my INSTAGRAM
